“Come All You People Come” echoed through The Langford on December 18th at 7:00 PM. What brought 96 residents and guests together? It was dessert, drinks, decorations and fellowship. The planning began in October with a call for anyone interested in helping with an event called Christmas by Candlelight. Residents met to discuss having a Christmas dessert event with the proceeds going to the Covenant Fund. The enthusiasm was amazing as the women started to plan how to decorate their round tables for Christmas Dessert. Tables were designed by individuals and by women working together. Twelve tables were set in the common area and each was unique and beautiful.

Saturday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. the tables, which had white cloths and eight chairs, beckoned the hostesses to start turning each into an individual delight of Christmas Cheer. Centerpieces were comprised of treasures residents brought with them. Some centerpieces were beautiful desserts including a Peppermint Cake and a Yule Log. Guests either bought their tickets or were guests of the hostesses. The ticket sales lasted about a month and were deposited into the Covenant Fund. Many guests donated and the final total was a true Christmas gift to The Langford. The first annual Christmas by Candlelight (note the optimism) was a Holiday success. The event raised $5,135 total for the Covenant Fund.
