Adding a Little Color in a Dark Time

Like many, Jeanne Beckman found herself struggling during the early days of the pandemic when stay at home orders were in effect and being around others was discouraged. Considering the sadness she was experiencing, she knew it might be common amongst her neighbors as well. She decided to turn her talent and lifelong hobby into a source of encouragement. She pulled out her art supplies and began doodling.

These doodles turned into little greeting cards that she distributed to each of her fellow residents along with a houseplant to lift their spirits. She even shared one of these personalized cards with a local bank manager who later requested she make some for all of the bank employees. What began as an effort to encourage others brought encouragement back to Beckman in return. She has designed nearly 100 cards and was even featured in a recent Guidepost Publication, “Angels on Earth”.
