A Langford Resident is Honored by the Library of Congress

A servant’s heart. That’s how staff and fellow residents at The Langford describe Nan Matush. The senior living community resident has never hesitated to respond when she feels led to help others. Nan’s generous spirit recently landed her an honor from the Library of Congress.

“One of our volunteers, Jim Lamar, visits the community on a regular basis to sing to our residents in the chapel,” explained Gabriel Montez, chaplain at The Langford. “Nan felt called to share a devotional she wrote. Jim added music and decided to share her work with the Library of Congress.” From there, the waiting game began and thankfully, Jim received word that the devotional would receive official certification from the Library.

“We honored Nan with a ceremony, giving her the news that she was officially part of the Library of Congress,” explained Montez. Matush was surprised and delighted by the rare honor.
